Villa Okavango
-
Okavango Delta - Botswana
Villa Okavango is a
separate and private unit on the opposite side of the lagoon
from Abu Camp. The Villa has two large bedrooms with en-suite
facilities and a spacious sitting room, all on a raised teak
deck beneath shady trees. Most meals are enjoyed outside,
overlooking the lagoon, but the lounge and dining room are
sheltered by an Afro-Bedouin-styled tent. The Villa includes a
pool and resident butler and is designed for 4 guests or a small
family. The emphasis is on privacy and luxury in the African
bush.
Villa Okavango is an unique concept, affording total privacy and
luxurious living for one family or two couples in the total
seclusion of a picturesque corner of the Okavango wilderness.
Overlooking and large perennial lagoon rich in bird life and a
resident school of hippos, the villa is set amid a grove of
ancient trees, including one magnificent specimen of the
extraordinary sausage tree with its distinctive elongated
fruits. |
 |
Villa Okavango was
developed from the private retreat of Randall Moore, pioneer of
elephant back safaris in Africa, in his 500,000-acre concession
area in the heart of the Okavango Delta, one of the wonders of
the natural world.
An elevated teak
deck houses the opulent living area with tented accommodation,
best described as Afro-Bedouin - spacious and airy. The two
large bedrooms, both en suite, boast rich furnishings. One has a
four-poster double bed, the other two sumptuous sleigh beds.

|
The dining and
lounge areas are also furnished in a colonial-baronial style.
Antiques abound as well as an informative and absorbing library
of books. There is, of course a well-stocked bar. The whole
atmosphere of the villa is that of a luxurious private home in
the secluded splendor of the wetland wilderness.
The villa has its
own staff at the constant beck and call of guests, adding to the
exclusive feeling. A resident chef will prepare excellent meals
from the kitchen area below as and when they are required. While
the staff will fit in their duties with whatever household
routine is required. |
 |
|
The outdoor area is
also designed for total relaxation. The villa has its own pool
for cooling in the heat of the day whilst the high, expensive
deck allows guests to view the tranquil lagoon in the
surrounding bush with its colorful and prolific birdlife and
passing parade of wild animals, great and small.
An expert
resident guide is on hand with open, comfortable 4x4 vehicle to
conduct morning and evening game viewing expeditions organize
trips on the numerous waterways in a mokoro, the traditional
poled craft used as transport for centuries by the people of the
Delta. The guide is happy to share his knowledge of the ecology
conservation and all the creatures of the Okavango. |
